Harnessing Private Equity Data

The data captured by funds of funds allows them not necessarily to be “prognosticators” but to provide “context, attribution, understanding,” for their own investors, according to Jason McGann, Vice President of PineBridge Private Equity Funds Group.

In an Privcap interview, McGann, who oversees investor relations for PineBridge, describes the reasons why investors require so much more information about their private equity portfolios today, what effect the financial downturn had on investor data demand, the trouble with financial reports distributed in a PDF format (“time consuming”) and what PineBridge’s aggregation of 1,800 underlying portfolio company indicates about the current economy.
