Walter Schmidt

Senior Managing Partner, Rockwood Capital

Walter Schmidt, based in New York, is a Senior Managing Partner and one of the founders of Rockwood.  Mr. Schmidt has 30 years of experience in the real estate industry.  Mr. Schmidt serves on various investment committees as well as on Rockwood's investment strategy and research committee and personnel, staffing and compensation committee (as chairman).  Mr. Schmidt previously served as the firm's Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Schmidt has overall responsibility for co-managing Rockwood with Mr. Falco, with a particular focus on implementing the firm's investment program.  From 1996 to 2010, Mr. Schmidt was responsible for acquisition, asset management and disposition activities on the East Coast.  From 1986 to 1995, Mr. Schmidt advanced from Associate to Vice President of Competrol Real Estate Limited and was responsible for asset management of the East Coast portfolio.  From 1984 to 1986, Mr. Schmidt was a Senior Auditor with Touche Ross & Co. (currently Deloitte), with experience in real estate, light manufacturing, distribution and transportation. Mr. Schmidt received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Adelphi University.  Mr. Schmidt is a full member of the Urban Land Institute, where he is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Development/Mixed Use Council.
