Global COO & CFO, Morgan Stanley

Michael is the Global COO and CFO for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, the firm’s real estate investment management division with $35Bn in AUM.  Since joining Morgan Stanley in 1998, he has worked closely with the firm’s real estate clients and funds across a broad range of new investment, financing, capital markets and advisory activities. Michael is currently responsible for the financial and operational activities of the division which includes portfolio management, capital markets, risk, regulatory and other infrastructure activities.  In this capacity, he is chairman of the valuation committee and a senior member of the group’s investment and risk committees.  He also serves as the portfolio manager for MSREF VII, a $4Bn global opportunity fund, and leads the investor coverage and capital markets effort across the firm’s alternative investment businesses. Prior to these activities, Michael was co-head of the firm’s real estate investment banking practice in the U.S. He received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.S. from NYU Stern School of Business.  He is an active member of various real estate organizations including ULI, The Real Estate Roundtable’s Capital Markets Committee, NYU Stern’s CREFR and IREFAC.
