Indraneel Karlekar

Dr. Indraneel Karlekar Ph.D. has been the Head of Global Research at Principal Real Estate Investors, LLC since September 16, 2013. Prior to this, Dr. Karlekar served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Strategist at Cole Real Estate Investments, Inc. Dr. Karlekar is responsible for leading Cole Real's real estate investment strategy and continually enhancing its offerings. He also served as Cole Real's Economist, providing views and insight on the overall economy as well as real estate. In addition, Dr. Karlekar led the best-in-class investment strategy and research group, which optimizes portfolio strategies for current and planned offerings. Prior to joining Cole Real, Dr. Karlekar served as a Senior Vice President and Head of Global Research and Strategy at CBRE Clarion Securities (formerly ING Clarion Real Estate Securities, L.P). At ING Clarion, he worked on creating global top-down asset allocation strategies by analyzing macroeconomic and real estate variables and was also responsible for investment research, white papers, and new product development. Dr. Karlekar was a member of its global research and strategy team. He has served at AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corp. and Clarion Partners Americas LLC. Prior to AIG, Dr. Karlekar was an Economic Analyst at The Economist Intelligence Unit. He earned his Ph.D. in 1999 and M. Phil in 1996 from the University of Cambridge, received his Masters of Business Administration from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India and graduated from St. Stephens College in India.
