Brave New Transparency

Private equity has had transparency thrust upon it, and this reporting rigor permeates the chain of relationships from the portfolio companies to the institutional investors. “One primary role of the private equity GP is to strategically align management with the investors,” says PJ Viscio, Managing Director of Duff & Phelps. “It’s difficult to do that without an underlying understanding of the fair value of the equity.”
